Porphyrio porphyrio
A large purple gallinule with a stout brick-red bill and frontal shield. Flicks tail when walking. Eyes are red. Head and upperparts are black with deep blue or blue-black underparts and wings. White triangular undertail coverts. Legs are red with very long toes.
