Anseranas semipalmata

A large pied goose. Swims and up-ends when looking for food. White plumage is often heavily stained. Seen congregated in a very large flock. Head and neck black with a distinct knob on older birds. Bill is hooked in front. Face skin ranges from flesh to yellow. Neck to upper breast black. Mantle, upperwing coverts, rump and belly are white. Upperwing are black with white coverts. Underwing black with white linings. Tail is black. Legs are long and orangey-yellow. Toes are partly webbed.
