Peppergrass
Grizzled Giant Squirrel

Ratufa macroura dandolena
I had one of these guys as a pet in Deniyaya. His name was Kira. Looked just like the one in the picture. Oh well, this fun fellow is at my uncles house in Bolgoda. There are two of them, the other one is slightly more yellow rather than grey. The Common Ceylon Giant Squirrel is also known as the Grizzled Giant Squirrel (Sinhala: Dandu-lena) is the smallest of the various species of Giant Squirrel, with a body length of 25-45 cm. Tails are most often the length of their bodies or may even be slightly longer. They have short round ears with a tuft of fur on the tip. Hands are broad and have powerful claws which therefore adapted for gripping making them very agile climbers. Tails are blackish grey (depending on what colour squirrel is) with distinct white highlights which give it a grizzled appearance, hence the name. p>
