Elusive Adjutant

Aethriamanta brevipennis brevipennis

Males have small fat round bodies. Their depressed abdomens are brilliant red and have a blackish thorax and head.  Base of the wing is red. If looked upon carefully, a red spot can be seen on the joint between the femur and the tibia. Females have a more cylindrical golden brown coloured abdomen, and unlike the males, they have a yellow spot on the joint between the femur and tibia. Base of a females wings are golden brown. Both sexes are about 2 cm long.
