The Lesser Adjutant Stork is a large, black and white wading bird that has a bare pinkish-orange head and neck. Its bill is powerful yet pink. Wings, neck ruff and mantle are blackish with copper coloured spots on wings when in breeding plumage. Belly is white. There is a scruffy black crest on the rear side of the crown and black down on the scruff of the neck. When flying it has the posture of a heron in flight with its neck withdrawn in a hunched position. Found in parts of Sri Lanka and India.
